Oils for Oily Skin

When I was around 12 and I first started having problems with acne, I started following all the stupid advices from "smart" articles and magazines about health and beauty and from the commercials for the newest "anti-acne" products. One of the things you can hear very often when talking about acne, is that acne acne = oily skin. And so you should avoid all products with too much oil in it  Now, few years later I know that pure plant-based oils help healing my skin much better than all the expensive "specialized" cosmetics.

The problem is, that the whole thing about oily skin is much more complicated. I've been suffering from acne since I was around 12 and even now, few weeks before my 20th birthday, my skin is not perfect at all. But also my skin has never been oily at all, which is what the conventional cosmetic products count on. In fact, my skin has always been super dry and all these products (toners, cleansing gels, makeups ..) made my skin even drier and make all the healing processes much longer.

A lot of people don't even know their real skin type because they use inappropriate cosmetics. Cosmetics, designed for oily skin can actually overdry your skin and your skin can produce even more oil as a defense. Which may lead to you thinking you have oily skin and keep using products, which only make your skin issued even worse

Acne, as well as any other skin disease, is not just about the skin itself and what you put on it. There are many factors which affect the quality - your (im)balanced diet, food allergies, drinking mode, sleep quality, stress levels as well as the genetical predispositions ...

Our skin is the biggest organ of our body and it reflects what is happening inside. To get clean, healthy, glowing skin, we first have to detox our body from inside. Anyway, the skincare itself shouldn't be overlooked as well. Forget the aggresive chemical cosmetics, which make your acne disappear for a while but doesn't solve the problem in long term. Show your skin that you love it and you want to care about it. You want your skin to heal and thrive. You want your skin to be bright, clea and healthy.

One of the best things which helped me a lot with my skin issues, are the plant-based oils. You can used them for oil cleansing method, makeup removing, for making your own homemade cosmetics (you can check recipes on this blog) or you can simply put it on your skin instead or creams, serums etc.

My favourite oils which really help my skin (I've been using them for quite a long time and I see a huuuge improvement) are:
  • Rosehip oil (the best one I tried is by Czech brand Nobilis Tilia) - one of the few things which always help my skin. It stops the "active" acne, it soothes the skin and helps to remove old scars.
  • Raspberry oil - perfectly moisturizes the skin, soothes irritated skin and doesn't create the oily shiny layer on your face like other oils - so you can use it even before you go out. Bonus: The smell is amazing!
  • Tea tree - the best little helper for acne & sore cold quick fix (honestly I don't know about any other way to get rid of sore cold, which I sometiems get from too much sun exposure, traveling and stress). It dries pimples and removes inflammation from the skin. If you want to use tea tree oil for your whole face, you can mix it with other caring oils like rosehip and raspberry (you can also try sea buckthorn oil, which should have simillar effect - I personally haven't seen much results on my skin with this one, but you can give it a try)
