Hypocritical Minimalism

Minimalism became kind of a trend. There are hundreds of blog posts, videos, youtube channels, blogs and books which describe how minimalism can simplify and orhanize your life and make you feel more relaxed and satisfied. I love the original idea of minimalism. But it's sad that a lot of propagators of minimalism are quite hypocrites ...

"I used to work on wall street / in an advertising agencyt / in a bank, I had a lot of money but then I realized that is doesn't make me happy anymore ..."
Many stories of "so called minimalists" begins like this. Usually those people say that they sold everything they owned, they ralized that materialism is bullshit, they published few books and now they're travelling around the world, they!re super happy and they share their "life story" with other people who are still kept in chains of the commercial, materialistic world.
Well. It all sounds really nice. But a little bit too simple. Those people left ther materialistic job, but it helped them to be where are they now. They have enough money for travelling, for enjoying their expensive hobbies and they don't have to work anymore. Basically they earn money by telling people to do the same .. but the problem is that not everyone has the same starting-line.

By watching the videos on youtube it also seems like some girls think that the main purpose of minimalism is to wear and use everything that's black and white. So their luxury room is full of black and white stuff, their wardrobe is full of black and white clothes but it's three times bigger than normal person's wardrobe.

It seems like the original idea is always great. No matter if we talk about minimalism, healhy diet, working out, veganism, meditation, yoga .. anything. When those things are propagated too often, people either take it extremely seriously or they follow that "lifestyle" just to be trendy.

Of course, not everybody it like that. I'm a vegetarian and I don't do do it because it's a trend and I don't shout to meateaters that they're "murderers". I love yoga and meditation but I rather practise at home instead of going into a crowded public class and when I go to the gym, I don't post "mirror selfies" on the instagram immediatelly. There are vegans our there, who love animals, nature and they aren't mean to people who don't have the same life attitude. There are minimalist who refuse to be affected by the commercials and buy things which they don't need and which don't make them happy. Instesd of that, they enjoy they prefer memories over the property ... It doesn't make sense to try to fit into a community if you aren't consistent with the idea.
