MONTENEGRO - Part 2: Albania Trip, Russians and Bosnia Boundary

One day we went for a trip to Albania. Behind the boundaries you see a lot of not finished or very old houses, you meet a lot of "keymen" on the streets - people who are stanging by the roads and they're jingling with keys to get customers for their apartments (as we saw it wasn't very successful). Men wear casual formal trousers not only for a walk or when they meet friends, but we saw some cases when they wore them for a work on the construction site. You just have to keep staring at some phenomena like you're from some different planet.

We arrived to Skadar city and we visited the Rozafa castle, where you can get a view to the Skadar lake. It was quite cloudy, but still an awful hot weather and in the evening it ended as the biggest thunderstorm I've ever experienced. When we went back from Albania, there were lightning all over the sea and they lightened a half of the skye. In the evening we came to the apartments and the storm blew a fuse so we didn't have the electricity till the morning. It was also raining a lot and it turner colder" so it was nice eightly degrees, but in the morning everything was normal again - no stops from the rain and typical hundered degrees.

Let's come back to Albania. The biggest experience was the traffic

  • Cars, bicycles, motorbikes - they all ride in the opposite direction, they overtake from left, right, everywhere and always.
  • Policemen just fan themselves with flappers instead of controling the traffic.
  • Anything can be taken by bike - a table, a wardrobe ..
  • BMW and Audi always take precedence.
  • Here and there there's just simply missing a piece of the road.
  • People meet friends and walk around the roundabouts ...

The next day we moved to another place in Montenegro and we appeared in "russian villa street". As we wondered about the concentration of Russinas in Karlovy Vary, we did in here as well. Utjeha, where we stayed the last few days was somehow different than any places in Montenegro we visited. It was quite turistic, but it still had its magic. Most of the beaches in Montenegro is sandy, but there was a cliff on which waves crashed and in the evening you could take stunning pictures.

In the evening we went to a local restaurant, I ordered (as always) a Greek salad, dad has an amazing pie with mushrooms and cheese and brother had pancakes with ice cream and crashed Plazma biscuits which you can buy everywhere in Montenegro in all different variations (with chocolate, with filling, crashed, "light" version, ..) We also ordered strawberry and banana milkshake and when I think about it in comparison with the café in our town, I wanna cry :D There was fresh fruit in that milkshake (the kitchen was opened so you could see what they put in your food), it was perfectly sweet and instead of normal milk there was a yogurt milk - and it was so thick that the spoon was standing. In average czech café, they seell you just mixed ice cream (= actually just fat and sugar) with milk that it not milk at all and with plastic cream with no taste. The quality of the food is really very different there, altough the prices are not much bigger.

We were always almost alone on the kitesurfing beach, but the other beaches were really crowded. What we were really wondering about except the Russians, were the number or muslims. A lot of people have prejudies about them, they judge them or they are afraid of them but these people often don't know them in real situations. I don't really understand this religion too and I'm not okay with some of their rules but on the other side I didn't feel like I should be scared on the beach. Okay, we're not used to it and it's just weird to see people swimming in those habits, but otherwise I didn't think they were weird at all. There were whole families, they looked quite happy, they were playing with the ball in the sea, they were talking ... I didn't feel in "danger" at all.

The last day of our vacation we went to Foam party on White Beach. We didn't really know what to expect but it was great altough the foam wasn't a big friend with my contact lenses ...

Way back home was long and exhausting. At half past two we appeared traditionally by the McDonald in Brno. And I used to be your healthy lifestyle motivator, hahaha .. But it's just a tradition :D We do it like this every year - when we come back home from holiday (in Greece, Poland, Bulgaria ...) we always stop by the McDonald, no matter what's o'clock and no matter if we are or are not hungry. Tradition is just a tradition. We arrived about half past three, we went to bed immediately and I was already thinking about wanting to come back ...
