Lunar Phases

Ancient people knew very well how to use the strong energy of the Moon. There has always been something magical about New and Full moon. People used to prepare rituals and cleansing processes, each phase of the cycle was respected and worshiped. In these days, people think about the Moon phases only in a moment, when they get a headache at Full moon.

The Sun and the Moon play important part in chinese medicine, taoism, buddhism and yoga systems. All of the philosophies share the same idea, that everything in this world is created by two counterparts make balance together. On the one side, there is the Sun, the masculine principle, activity, light and the power of Yang. On the other side, there is the Moon, the feminine principle, passitivty, darkness and the Yin element.

Lunar phases and their effects

There are four main phases of the lunar cycle - the cycle begins with New Moon, then the Moon is waxing until it reaches the Full Moon phase and then it is wanning again.

When the Moon is waxing, everything in our life is growing. Things we do come to us multiplied. That can be positive and negative as well. For example, if you eat a lot during the waxing Moon phase, we may gain much more weight in a shorter time. During the wanning Moon phase, everything works the other way around.

NEW MOON

New Moon happens when the Moon appears between the Sun and and Earth and we can't see it in the sky. The distance between the Moon and and Earth is the longest at this time. Although this happens in a one day, the energy of the New Moon lasts for 3,5 days.

The New Moon is the symbol of new beginnings, it's the best time to start getting rid of our bad habits and personal dramas, to release things which belong to the past. The sky is cover in darkness and our souls is dark and silent as well. This beautiful calmness and silence can be a source ofgreat new ideas and fantasies which may be a bit messy and confusing at the beginning. However these ideas tend to be very original and we should follow them and work on realizing them during the next lunar phases.

During the New Moon, we can feel a bit lonely, nervous and anxious. It's imporant to be very respectful and loving to yourself at this time. Relax, try to recharge your energy. It's also a good time to start a detox or take a fasting day. If you want to exercise during the New Moon, try not to be too hard to yourself. Respect your body's limits. Choose yoga, swimming or simple stretching routine, instead of an intense workout.
You can also make yourself a herbal bath, go for a massag and relax your eyes with a DIY pads made of lavander water or chamomille tea.

Also, when you set an intention at the New Moon, your dreams tend to come true much faster.

WAXING

When the Moon is waxing, everything is doubled. It's a great time to start new projects and continue fulfilling the dreams you set during the New Moon. At this time, our body is trying to accumulate energy, so try to avoid overeating! Also, if you want to do some changes with long effect - like sunbathing or new haircut, it's ideal time to do so.

FULL MOON

The Full Moon has an incredibly strong energy. It has a significant effect on our psyche and emotions, which may be a bit unstable and more intense. Our organism may be a bit weak at this time and we can tend to ilnesses a bit more. Since the Full Moon is the end of the waxing phase, almost all the food we eat is turning into fat. Because of that, it's recommended to eat very light food or fast druing the Full Moon. Intense physical activity is not ideal, rather choose something slow and relaxing. 

WANNING

After a dynamic phase of the waxing Moon and the instense Full Moon energy, there comes a time of  exhale and relaxation. Wasted energy is coming back to us fast. It's easier to do instense workouts and other phisically demanding activities. It's a great time to start loosing weight and detoxifying the body.  

During the wanning moon, we should enclose everything that deserves and ending. During the next New Moon, we'll have an opportunity to start again so it's imporant to stop all the disputes, leave toxic relationships and let go of everything that belongs to the past ...
