I love studying. I love the feeling when I discover new information, when I start to read between the lines and eventually find out that there's still so much to learn and I experience Socrates' feeling when he said "I know that I know nothing".
This world is an amazing place, where we can constantly discover completely new things and the process of learning is natural to all of us. Unfortunatelly, school often works as a place, where all of out enthusiasm for studying disappears ...

When we were kids, we used to learn things without even thinking about it. Nobody had to give us motivation - we were doing that completely naturally. According to a research, a toddler oftne walks the distance of 29 football pitches in a day. Nobody forces them, nobody has to promise them any rewards ... Kids are motivated by their inner passion for learning and improving their own skills.
Before I started going to primary school, I had been super excited to learn something new. My enthusiasm disappeared in October and I soon realized, that school is not really about "learning" something. It's not really about thinking of problems, discovering your strenghts and improving your skills. The key for good grades at school is to remember every word the teacher says, memorize at much information, names and formulas as possible and release the knowledge out of your head after an exam.
It's sad that school is supposed to be a place, where we acquire knowledge, a place that should support our enthusiasm for studying and exploring all the wonderful things in this world ... while it often discourage us so much.
For example - I personally love studying foreign languages. I love watching foreign movies and TV shows with subtitles, I love listening to music in different languages and I absolutely love the feeling when I start understanding the lyrics at leats a little bit. I like learning vocabulary as well as grammar and my dream is to be learn so many languages, that when I'll be traveling, I'll be able talk with people from different countries in their own language. Unfortunatelly, it's completely differnent at school - in terms of English, I've always been pretty good, so I've always been super bored during the classes. During our exchange programs in Netherlands and Romania, I've learned to comunicate much more than during all the conversation classes at school. With Memrise and Duolingo apps, I've learned basic spanish, while at school we were practising two verbs the whole year.
I always try to tell myself, that it depends on my own attitude and it's my choice, what am I going to get from the classes. Sometimes, it's really hard - I'm literally falling asleep, my thoughts are flying all around and the time is running soooo slow. I feel sorry for the teachers, who are trying to teach the students differently, but they fail. The school system needs a big change on its own - less formulas and dates, and more practical teaching. Not studying for school grades and university degrees, but learning for life.
