Magic Is Real

We all used to believe in magic. The tales our parents read us at bedtime seemed real. We believed that heroes always beat villains. That altough it doesn't look like that in the beginning, good always thriumph over evil. We knew that all our dreams can come true. We could be anyone and we could do anything we decided to do. After all ugly duckling can turn into a beautiful swan. And a poor girl with evil stepmother can become a princess one day.

In those tales we've found a proof that it's possible to be lifted from the bottom to the top ...

think of the happiest things... it's the same as having wings. Peter Pan

As kids we felt like the center of everything. Children are actually very self-centered. But who else should be in the center of our lives than us? We have the longest relationship with ourselves and we will be ourselves till the end. Children believe that everything happens because of them. That the sun rises because of them and that they can change anything, if they really wish for it.

But then we grew up and we stopped believing in magic .. and in ourselves. We lost our ilusions of love at first sight through our own disappointment. We reconciled with the fact that when we lose a shoe, nobody will return it to us with a marriage offer as a bonus. We began to doubt if the real life is fair. We became scared that the happy ends appear only in the Disney movies.

And altough we stopped believing in magic, it was all around us.
"Words are our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.” (Dumbledore told Harry Potter.)

Words can curse us easily.

If you tell someone that they're ugly, stupid, useless and that they can't do anything - they will believe it. Maybe not immediatelly but one day they won't have any other option. They won't doubt if they're different. They will feel ugly and stupid and they will never reach their goals. They are cursed now and they are not able to be who they are in real. If someone tells you you can't sing, it's possible that you will stop singing. Maybe for a couple of years. Maybe forever. Altough you may have a stunning voice - you don't think so. Because you're cursed. Or when someone tells you that you're fat. If you let the curse to hit you, you will suddenly feel fat. If you look in the mirror, you'll see the chubby cheeks, flabby arms, muffin top and thunder thighs. Maybe you're just bones and skin. But you're under the curse which holds you out of the reality.

Fairytales were true in many ways. Magic is real. And it's all around us. The curses are real and all of the dark magic can be broken by a counterspell. And what is the magic that can destroy all curses?

Love, of course.

But not any type of love. When someone loves you only when you wear your best dress, when you smile and you act according to their wished - this type of love works more like another curse. It forces you to look and behave according to one's standards. It doesn't let you to be yourself. Only the unconditional love can break all curses. You don't need a prince with a white horse. It can be a parent love, friend love or self-love. When someone (or ourselves) shows us that they loves us for who we are - only that can set us free.
