OM Mantra & The Creation of the Universe

OM has been seen as one of the most sacred mantras for thousands of years. According to Eastern philosophy, the "aum" sound was present at the the creation of the universe - before that, there was just the infinite energy, the neverending pure conciousness. And this energy turned into the om vibration, which put everything into motion and created the world we're living at right now.

Honestly, I understand this idea more than all the physical researches and theories about the creation of the universe. According to physics, the universe was created with the big bang. It was created from the emptiness and silence. First, there were the stars, planets .. and then plants and animals including people. Nothing turned into everything (Okay, it's not as easy as I'm describing it, but I spent most of the physics classes drawing mandalas and studying spanish and the most I've ever learned about physics was through the Interstellar movie).

Anyway the main question is - where did the life came from? From where did we get our conciousness, our thoughts and emotions?

Since science is not able to answer these questions (it's basicaly impossible to find a prove of any theory about this topic), people have been looking for the answers in the spiritual world. People around the world used to believe that gods and other supernatural beings cause even the simplest things like the changes of weather. In these days, we're able to rationally explain many things, but in some cases ... we're still looking for the explanation in the irational, indescribable spiritual world.

Different religions are giving different names to this energy. They created stories and myths, which metaphorically explain their philosophy. A lot of the thoughts are similar in all the religions, including the theory of the creation of the universe. Christian Bible says: "In the beginning was the Word and the Wod was with God and the Word was God." If you put this idea together with the Eastern philosophy, you may think that the word was the sound of Om and the God was the universal energy which created the whole world. Everyone and everything is created and then destroyed in this unity.

Mantra om is the sound representation of this unity and eternity. Chanting this mantra calms down the body and mind, improves concentration, helps to release stress and anxiety, balances emotions and give positive energy into the whole world around us. Singing in group multiplies the energy and the final effect.
