New Year's Resolution

New Year's resolution is a crap in my opinion. People with weak will are not able to even start with following their resolutions. Those people which are more motivated can follow them at least till the end of January. In most cases everyone come back to their old habits. And the New Year's resolution won't bring any life change at all ...

The problem is, that most of the traditional resolutions are too general. And the less specific they are, the harder it is to follow them. I'm gonna lose weight, I'm gonna eat healthy, I'm gonna study more, I'm gonna spend less time by watching TV ... All of these are good ideas, but how to start to realize them? Everyone should eat healthy. But if you're not used to make your own food at home, you don't know anything about healthy eating, - you are not able to start.
Studying more is definitely a good change too. But if you're used to put off the studying every time, it's hard to convince yourself now. If you don't have any timetable and if you're not motivated enough, it will be tough.

Another disadvantage of New Year's resolution is the fact, that they don't tell you, when to start. You can excuse everytime when you planned to go for a run, that it's too cold today. Or that if you already ate a piece of chocolate, it doesn't matter that you'll have some ice cream too. Putting off studying because you have to answer your friends in a group chat. Or because you have to watch a new episode of your favourite TV show. You can always make some excuse and put off reaching your goals until "tomorrow". I know if especially talking about the healthy lifestyle changes. "I'm going to eat shitty food today and tomorrow I'll start to eat healthy tomorrow". I've said this for thousand times ... The "tomorrow" feels like a new beginning. You feel like you have to begin with your change radically one day when you wake up and you are determinated enough ... And if you fail, we can try following our resolution tomorrow. Because it doesn't matter today anyway.

But that famous "tomorrow" may never come. So if you want to change something in your life, try to write down GOALS instead of silly resolutions. Try to be as specific as possible and maybe try to write also a date until you should reach this goal. So instead of "I'm going to eat healthy" you can try something like "I'm going to eat only one cheat meal a day/a week". Or "I'm not going to eat white flour pastry". Or "I'm going to make my lunch everyday".
And you can start immediatelly. Right now. Make a clean break from the fact that until this moment you were eating leftovers from the New Year's Eve celebration and that you relaxed and watched TV all day. Right now, in this minute, you can begin with your planned change. It's not necessary to wait until tomorrow :)
