Listen To Your Body

I started to care more about food to feel healthier, to lose some weight, to clean my skin ... At the end, I just felt like sleeping all day long. In the evenings I was curling up in a blanket and I was gorging with chocolate. Thought about food were on my mind 24/7 and my lifestyle feel apart. How could such a good idea collapse?

My diet was getting worse and worse and so finally I decided to focus more on mindfull eating. Basically, it means that you listen to your body, that tells you exactly what it needs. It sounds easy, but it's not so easy to practise it. We're used to banish our emotions, boredom or stress with food. The last half a year was pretty difficult for me and every time I felt bad, I solved it with food. When I came tired from school, when I was angry or disappointed, when I was bored .. I was eating pretty well during the day, but after dinner I stuffed my belly with all the crappy food I found at home.

One of the reasons of my binge eating were emotions and the second one was the feeling that told me if I want to eat healthy I have to do it for 100%. I was eating regularly, enough and I also had some sweet if I wanted to. I didn't physically limit myself at all but everytime when I ate some "bad food" the regrets came. I was disappointed that my will is still not strong enough. Due to this, I always ate anything I could found and I told myself that "tomorrow" I'm going to eat perfectly. But it went like this for about a half a year.

I was reading posts on the Internet which told me that I'm not doing enough cardio, I'm eating too much, to much carbs ... High carb vegans with ten-banana smoothies on the one side. On the other side the propagators of low-carb diets. So what the hell is really healthy? I became crazy about all the information.

Along the lines of vegans of instagram I stopped eating all meat (I used to eat fish and poultry). I limited dairy consumption and I started eating more legumes and soy. But the great results which the vegan propagators promised, didn't come. I didn't have energy, I had weak hair, dry skin that was healing very slowly ... I'm not trying to say that veganism is "bad". But I believe that this lifestyle doesn't suit everyone. I came back to dairy, eggs and fish again.

We often eat things we saw in commercials or the food we heard to be called "healthy". We think that if someone was able to lose weight some way or to improve their health, it will work the same on ourselves. But we don't realize that everyone is different and everyone needs something different. Some people can feel good when they remove all the "bad" food from their diet, some people need to have some unhealthy treat once in a while. We should try to find out what suits ourselves. We should always feel better after the meal than before it. And if that is not what you feel, something's wrong. Maybe you're eating too much or too little or you chose food that is not suitable for you. And youre body will tell you everything, you just need to listen ...
