Giving up dairy products can be tough. Especially if you used to consume dairy every day. If you decided to go vegan or you were diagnosed with milk allergy or you want to reduce your dairy consumption from any other reason - this post will (I hope) help you a bit :)
MILK
Honestly - in the beginning all the types of plant based milk tasted like a white water without any flavor. No plant based milk tastes like a cow milk. If you're cooking or baking, you won't taste the difference probably. But if you like to drink milk on its own, it may take some time to get use to it.
Nut milk (like almond or walnut milk) has very strong nutty flavour and you may not love it when you first taste it. Oat or millet milk tastes almost like liquid oat/millet porridge. So for the beginning, try rather some more neutral milk like rice milk, or you can try some flavoured plant based milk - vanilla or chocolate verison is available in every healthy food store and in almost all supermarkets.
Homemade

Homemade
Making your own plan-based milk is easy but I have to admit that you may not get the right consistency or flavour everytime. Anyway the bacis recipe for nut milk is: soak the nuts overnight, in the morning remove the water, add new water (2-4 cups of water for 1 cup nuts). Milk made of grains is prepared according to the type of grain. Some of them have to be cooked (for ex. rice), some of them can be raw (for ex. oats).
If you want to make your own homemade plant based milk, make it fancy and add some vanilla, cocoa, sweetener of choice (honey, dates, agave/dates/rice/maple syrup, stevia ..) or some fruit, for example banana or strawberries.
