There are still new and new studies about healthy diet and the old rules and thoughts are becomming myths. However we still believe in some of them and we don't even think about doubt about them. We accept them as a matter of course. We ignore the bbiorhytm of our own body and the signals it sends -just because we believe in what "the experts say" !
Sleep at least 8 hours a day
It's logical that we should sleep at night and wake up when the sun starts shining. Unfortunatelly in our society, where we have to wake up early for school/job, nature doesn't seem important. However this is still true - short but deep sleep is better than 10 hours of rolling over from side to side with your mind full of stressful thoughts. Also your sleep is much deeper before midnight so it's worth to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier in the morning :)
Drink plenty of water
If you don't drink enough, you have less energy, dry throat, you can have a headache, worse skin etc. Drinking water is important but nothing should be overdone. Some people can feel good with drinking about 5 litres of water whie for some people two litres are completely enough. Drinking too much fluid overload the kidneys so paradoxically it can cause many other health problems. So drink as much as you need and not according to what Mr. Google or some "smart book" says !

You have to burn more calories than you eat (to lose weight)

You have to burn more calories than you eat (to lose weight)
"Your intake has to be lower than your output" - you can find this information in almost every article about weight loss. But it's not really true. Of course, if you overeat and lie in your bed all days long, - you won't probably lose any weight. But if you understand this statement wrong, you will think that you have to burn more calories than ALL the calories you put into your body during the day. And that's nonsense! We need energy to talk, walk, breathe, pee ... A part of the energy is consumed by simply keeping you alive. So a part of the energy is deducted. And what about the rest? It doesn't matter only how much you eat but also what you eat. If you eat two slices of white flour bread you may consume less calories than if you eat four bananas, but do you thinkg that you'll look slimmer? No! Look at the people who eat raw diet - they eat so many calories but they are still healthy and slim. It depends on if you have balanced diet, your food is full of vitamins and healthy substances or it's just full of empty calories. So don't take this statement about weight loss seriously and don't worry about it :)
